Handwash vs dishwash: which is better?
There are pros and cons for each, so what it really comes down to is what the best method is for you, and which one makes you feel most comfortable and confident in caring for your dinnerware.
For handwashing, it’s better to stick to mild soap, warm water (not hot) and gently rubbing using non-abrasive sponges or cloths. After washing, rinse and dry immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid soaking the dishes in the sink too long, this can weaken the glaze or finish of your dinnerware. You’ll want your dinnerware to maintain its glow.
On the other hand, most of our collections can be used safely in the dishwasher (with the exception of some, so you can feel confident in choosing to dishwash over handwash. To avoid any damage during dishwashing cycles, it’s best to keep these dinnerware care tips in mind:
- Avoid over-filling and placing dishes too close to one another. This will help minimize the risk of chips and cracks.
- Following the dishwasher’s manual, set it to at an appropriate temperature and avoid using high heat drying, especially for porcelain.
- Always, always, always use a light detergent.
- Allow them to cool completely before removing or storing.
